If you have a volt meter you can check the voltage coming out of the molex connection.

The cpu fan will probably only come on when needed. The molex fans though I would guess will run all the time. Make sure you didn't bend a molex pin, I do that all the time with those.

Quite a nightmare, but I think I finally got the box working.  Long story short, it sat as a doorstop for months.  I finally got back to it and determined that he LCD panel on the Antec Fusion case shorted.  It then started and electrical fire Wed. night.  (Thankfully, the wife unit was not home.)  So, now the LCD panel is totally disabled and the wiring that ran to the LCD panel is burned up.  I will try to get a new LCD kit from Antec.  Remote does not work, but I bought the Lenovo N5901 as a remote and that works pretty well!  http://gdgt.com/lenovo/n5901/

I wish I had bought a dual tuner.  I bought a hybrid tuner (Hauppaugge 1250) on the expectation that by now cable card tuners would just be flooding the market.  Thoughts on whether to upgrade to a dual tuner v. just find an old analog tuner for one of the open slots?  I think I understand from Miller that the feed from the cable box has to be coax out to an analog input.  Correct?

What is the latest on cable card tuners?

Any additional thoughts on how to use Windows Media Center?

Is there any easy way to fix it so that on other computers in the house can access what is on the HTPC.  They are all Windows 7.

Also, I finally gave up on trying to get a N-router to work and just ran an Ethernet cable from my office to where the HTPC is in the family room.  I know there are people here who have been lucky to N-routers to work; I am not one of the lucky ones (when it comes to HTPCs).

The fire sounds very unlucky. Glad it wasn't worse.

I don't remember about client/server operations with MediaCenter but a quick search on thegreenbutton would find more. You should also be able to set of a RecordedTV library and have everything just go into there. Then you should be able to access everything with normal file sharing as well.

As for cablecards, they have been promised for a long time now and supposedly May the ones from Ceton will be here. I don't know if I would ever use the term "flooded" though... If it was me I would buy an analog tuner and stop the wait.

Finally went to a HDHomerun for a dual tuner.  Works super.  I can record TV in my office and play it back in the family room (running the Ethernet cable).

    Big pluses:

watching "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on Hulu.

    Watching Netflix.

    HDHomerun
