Thinking “2n’s Thrifty PVR” article. I’m with 2n’s thrifty approach. If I am not using my PC, ie, its idle time, chances are if I am awake I’m watching the box, so why not put the idle PC to better use, with all the advantages of upgrading just one box of tricks, etc.

Hence, my question, is it possible to “Build a PVR in 3 or so steps”, without having to also buy Windows 7 (for MS Media Centre). In other words is there amongst the Linux experts anyone who has done anything similar for the Linux world, with similar hardware and outcomes!

You can use linux and a program called MythTV. If you have an old copy of Windows you could also try out GBPVR. Both are free and work really well.
