Hulu Desktop

Does anyone know if there is any PVR software that is actually integrating Hulu desktop into it? I can set a program launch point in GBPVR that works pretty well but I wonder if anyone has already integrated it.

I haven't heard anything for Hulu, except maybe Boxee. Or is that separate. I haven't looked into either much so I don't always keep it straight.

SageTV does. Not hulu desktop specifically, but you can access hulu content. You do need to purchase Playon though. Someone built a pluggin for SageTV to access the feeds through playon.

I haven't tried Boxee but from what I understood from the Hulu forums on Hulu Desktop the whole reason for Hulu Desktop was that restrictions didn't allow them to make that content available to things like Boxee. I could be wrong though. Hulu Desktop works pretty slick and it can be launched from within GBPVR but it would be nice if it integrated a bit more. It's interesting that Sage is doing that though. It may be that I just need to do some more digging with GBPVR to find a plugin that does that.

I saw this today on Lifehacker. It's for Windows 7, but I would think there would be a way to port it to GBPVR as well.

Notice it has links for Boxee and Hulu in the article.

That looks pretty much the same as adding an application launch icon to GBPVR. That's what I'm doing right now and it seems to work ok. I guess I was just looking for asomething that would play the videos from within your chosen pvr application. It is good to know you can do that with windows7 mediacenter though. I may look into using that with my next build just to give it a whirl. I never bothered much with Vista so it's probably time I start familiarizing myself with the new windows platform.

I don't think it actually does it from within MediaCenter, it just is a batch process that kills MediaCenter, starts Boxee or Hulu, and then when you're done with Boxee or Hulu automatically restarts MediaCenter. So it appears to be running from within, but I don't think you would see both tasks running in the Task Manager. (If the details really matter I'm not sure...)

No, I understood that. That's why I said that it's pretty much the same thing as setting up GBPVR to start an application.
