We chose to use MythTV for our HD-PVR, though we are not sure what capture card to use.

We plan on using a Linux/Ubuntu system(unless there is something else better and free).

• Slots:
3 x PCI
1 x AGP (8x)

• IDE:
4 x IDE devices
Support for Ultra DMA 66/100/133 Bus Master Mode2 x IDE

• Video:
S3 UniChrome Pro

• Audio:
AC'97 2.2 6-ch audio CODEC

I would suggest that if you are going to go with MythTV that you go with one of the distros that come with it pre-installed rather then installing your distribution then installing Myth on top of it. If you want Ubuntu then you may want to go with Mythbuntu from the start. What else are you planning on doing with your PVR? That will help us to know what hardware may be best for you.

Also when you say an HDPVR, what kind of HD source is it?
