THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED: Move along... Congrats to RedR!!

Thought it was time for another giveaway  Thffftpppppt!

It's open to registered users only with shipping addresses in the continental USA (sorry, at some point we'll have a giveaway open to international users!)

The "contest" is running through the month of April.  (ends April 30th midnight Eastern).

Basically, whoever gets the most Karma on the board between the start of April till the end of April will get their choice of a Hauppauge MediaMVP or a hauppauge wintv PVR150 retail courtesy of BYOPVR.

So how do you get Karma?  You post thoughtful/helpful/intersting posts and replies to questions on the forum and other users can click on the "good post" link next to your avatar to give you a karma point or "meh" for a bad post docking you a point for a flame post or jerky reply.

I've setup a FAQ page that i'm hoping you'll help with and a chance to earn Karma points from me  Grin

In the event of a tie the byopvr moderators will be the tie breakers using advanced selection criteria.

Any shennanigans or fraudulent posting/karma boosting will make you inelligible and probably banned from the forums/site.  I'm trying to reward the solid contributors to the site, not have a bunch of spammy posts and fake user accounts.  No collusion of Karma is allowed either! Play nice, play fair, have fun!

EDIT-->
Here's where to look for the Karma links (note: you have to had made at least one post to "see" Karma links, obviously be logged in, and there's also an hourly wait period between karma granting so you can't go karma crazy rolleyes)

A few updates/tips/responses to questions about the giveaway:

No I can't win the prize, nor the other admins (sorry planetjay, that'll save you the obligatory "are you sure admin's can't win" post!) Thffftpppppt!  Although I appreciate the karma nod if I do post a good post, save them for eachother.

You should give out "good post" karma points for any post that you think is insightful or helpful for others i.e. don't just award karma points to people that reply thoughtfully to your threads, but rather any useful/informative post you find.

Don't be stingy either =)  I realize you are all in competition to garner karma points but withholding giving them out isn't gonna help your cause.

I will be looking for good posts as well... and will champion good replies to anonymous/guest posters (as they can't give you karma points) hint look for unanswered posts (0 replies) as another way to get my attention for karma points.

Remember, this forum and site at large isn't about me (rampy) answering peoples questions (although I genuinely like to and try to when I can)... it's about you guys sharing the information, ideas, and links with eachother... in other words don't be shy, pitch in and post  Thffftpppppt!

Besides it's not like I necessarily know what I'm talking about, you'll definitely want opinions from eachother, to get a well rounded understanding/answers to your questions.  *shrug*

Thanks, and good luck!

A few more rule clarifications:

Past winners of BYOPVR giveaways/contests are not eligible for the prize (although they are encouraged to participate, still!)

If the "karma king" would prefer a pvr250MCE OEM as the prize AND it's still available at PCAlchemy I would provide that card instead of a PVR150 or MediaMVP.

There aren't a lot of PVR250 MCE's left so I can't promise that at the end of April they'll still be available at PCA.

Good luck!

No, it's a pretty simple system (I could find out if I had to in case of abuse, but there's no way for YOU to know which member or which post bumped your karma)... oh and your welcome  Thffftpppppt!  and thanks for participating!

The Karma King PVR150/MediaMVP giveaway is now closed!

Congratulations to RedR  mmmmbeeer

He accumulated 58 Karma points over the month of April and is our Karma King PVR150/MediaMVP giveaway.

Coming in second, is smokeyalien with 45 (unfortunatley there's no 2nd place prize, sorry SA Sad ).

Good job guys thumbs up good job

Thanks to everyone who participated!  Keep posting and helping each other out and awarding Karma to good posts (and meh's for troll posts) because you don't know when the Karma will come back into play for a new giveaway.

RedR drop me a PM or reply here with your choice of PVR150/mediaMVP
