I just got a Philips Remote Control for Windows XP MCE.  I have windows XP, but not Media Center edition.  It says that it will still run wmp, but it does not work.  The Player that I like to use is Power DVD, that came with my Dell laptop.  All I need to be able to do with the remote is control a media player, is there any way that I can get this to work without having MCE?  If anyone knows how to program the remote or something like that it would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for the help

did it come with any software?  did you load it?

If it didn't come with software you might want to play around with GIRDER or the like...

is that an RF or IR based remote... ?

Where'd you  get it from, spec link?

Thanks for the help!  I got Girder to work with winamp, but it does not work with Power DVD the  Folder comes up with a circle and a bar through it, I am able to have girder learn the functions of the remote, but something is blocked, is there a way to get by this, any ideas?
