Hi,

I heard through the grapevine that Hauppauge is going to release a new PVR card, called the PVR-150. I heard it from someone who has connections with Hauppauge, but he hasn't got any further details from them.

I was wondering wether anyone has any info on this card. I found a little bit via google, on a spanish site: http://www.cienporcien.com/artman/publish/article_371.shtml and a french hauppauge site with a (again spanish) powerpoint presentation http://www.hauppauge.fr/spain/present/present.ppt

I'm guessing it's going to be a cheaper version of the pvr250. Dunno if it's going to replace the 250 altogether.

I got nothing on the pvr150, i'm slightly skeptical... how much cheaper can these cards get (and still be viable/profitable for hauppauge?)... they show pictures of the pvr500 which existance was confirmed by shs.  (actually shs is a good guy to ask this stuff)

There already is a "cheaper" oem only pvr250 based on the blackbird reference design called "roslyn" ... ( these are the BTV 250 cards sold by Snapstream for example )  SageTV used to sell them too.   Now I wonder if the pvr150 is a new new product or a x50 marketing/branding of the roslyn cards to the general public, soon?   *shrug*

Certainly piques my interest at least, thanks for the post!!

I'll see if I can send out an inquiry or two regarding the pvr 150 and post back here...

That's what people seem to be telling me... it's an actual product coming out, but they either don't know more, or can't say more until the official announcement, presumably several weeks from now.

I did manage to ascertain that it is NOT a rebranding of the rosyln/blackbird card and is something different.  What that is, time will tell...  I'll keep poking around and see if I can find out more...

Everyone is pretty tight lipped on it.  Nobody can/will comment until the public announcement get's closer (3 weeks? your guess is as good as mine...)

all i know is that it isn't a roslyn/blackbird... which leads me to think it's gonna be something new.

you can be sure if I get some scoop/info i'll be posting it =)  but right now it's the quiet before the storm.

Trying  to get some crossfertilization going  ;)

http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5841

Small tidbit from that forum:

Product SKU:
785428010427

No idea what a SKU is, but probably a product code?

To be continued....

Wondering why they're bringing out this one, as it looks a lot like the PVR 250.

From SHS's forum by Spanky:

I've played around with the MCE version of the 150 for a few days now and can say that I haven't seen any difference between the captures of my 250 versus captures with the 150. Dropping clips from both into Bitrate Viewer show no differences either. According to my contact at Hauppauge the price difference really comes down to being able to buy one A/V digitizer instead of two chips from seperate vendors and also since both the A/V digitizer and the MPEG encoder come from Conexant they get a more favorable monetary deal.

I just searched google and it turned up several hits for this card at online stores.  Gigapc is selling them for 67.95 and they say they have them in stock.  Costcentral also has them in stock and is selling them for 69.26.  Now I'm wondering when pcalchemy is going to put them into a package deal.
