... but maybe rampy wants to volunteer first?

That would make a great addition to this site. Check out dslreports.com - they have something similar. Very cool.

I've been meaning to do this forever...  I was hoping to add a field so that it would be automagic with the forum database (people would just go in and specify in their profiles)

There's already a mashup of googlemaps out there... that does this the old fashion way (where users put a pin on the map).

I'll see If I can dig up the link... no sense in reinventing the wheel.

If someone was so inclined to build a custom thingie that's cool too.  They could build it and then when it was ready I'd gladly host it/make space for it...

Sweet, that does the job just right. On that widgets page you can find code to put the map on here, though users would have to go to the Frappr site to add themselves.

sorry to hijack the denver meetup thread ... but we'll do a little test pilot here to see what people think and then I'll pimp it on the main page and add a link to the top nav and stuff.  mmmmbeeer

Excellent. I humbly request a link on the byopvr page since my school blocks the frappr page. I can add my address from home, but this way I could still view the results from work.

will do soon-ish...

btw, for the truely paranoid...  I just put my zipcode or town in... it doesn't need street address granularity/accuracy.  Just neat to see who is in the same neck of the woods.

I've attached a map of geo-ip location traffic which gives some sense where the concentrations appear to be...  *shrug*

Very cool map! Do normal people get access to the map too or is it an administator thing?

Wow pjl, that was an awsome idea of yours and thanks rampy for implementing it. I'm not a programmer, but I'm betting you can have a script that updates the frappr page when someone updates their forum profile.

The turnaround time on this thing was quick! Love your dedication to this site and the users rampy. We can totally use this info for planning meet-n-greets and I'm sure a host of other things.

And aighead, I didn't have to 'sign up' for it per se, just filled out my location thing and it added me. Huh!

And I'm on a crappy work PC that may not be showing me everything there is to see. I'll take a look at it later... Figures that I sign up for yet another site I don't need to.

Wow.
When we realized we were in the same town, Smoky in passing said " we should get together for a few beers some time." Then he said, we should post a plan.

Looks like we hit a nerve...
From that perspective, if any of you guys find yourself passing through...lay over, whatever...
