Hi All,

I occaisonally get really nice emails from folks who get alot out of the site and want to know if there's a donation button or if they can send bake goods to show their appreciation.  As flattered as I am, it's really you guys (the byopvr community and "regulars") that make the site what it is... but in any case there are a few ways you can help me/the site if you feel the need for recipicrocity.

1. Visit and support our sponsors! That is if you're so inclined to do so (systematic pity clicks do more harm than good, so only click away if our sponsors pique your interest)

1b. if you do end up buying stuff from our site sponsors, PLEASE let them know that "byopvr.com sent you!"

2. Build a cool project PVR project that you are proud of and show & tell your friends/family/online buddies about it and mention byopvr as a helpful resource/community (i.e. spread the word - but don't be spammy)

3. Stick around after your project is done and continue to participate in the site.  Either answer newbie questions, post pictures/journal, write a howto/faq/article on what you learned/tips from your experience, or just hang out and discuss what TV shows to record on your DIY PVR =)

4. If you have a website/blog and feel so inclined post an entry about the site with links to the main site or forum, or add us to your blogroll.

5. If you work in traditional media (print, radio, TV) and are stuck for an idea/feature/blurb ... maybe an article on homebrew tivo's sticking it to the man and thumbing our noses at the broadcast flag would make interesting copy, eh?  Ok, I admit it I'm a sucker for seeing the site's name/link in lights/print  Grin

Really just sticking around, participating, and helping with the growing onslaught of questions (i.e. help each other out) is the best way, next to spreading the word to friends/etc...

Thanks!

Good post.  After I discovered BYOPVR.COM I  have done a lot of business with PCAlchemy.com and I tell them every time I found out about them through this site.  And they are cheap, cheaper than Tigerdirect, Directron, NewEgg etc!  I hope my comments have left good imprint for your site at PCAlchemy.

This is a good site you have Rampy.

Thanks for the kind words and support!  It's definitely appreciated, and they do take notice Grin .  PCA has been a great site sponsor, and I feel totally comfortable recommending them to folks.

New Year 2006 Greetings to you Rampy and ALL the BYOPVR.com community!

I found your site this very evening by way of the VideoHelp.com site, and I am eternally grateful I did. I have been thinking along these lines for quite some time, and now I think the time is right for my next home A/V project.

Thanks to you and all of the others here who ask questions and reply with useful advice and patience. I plan to participate as much as I can here, and hopefully when my own project gets under way I will keep a project journal with pictures that I can link to/post somewhere for the benefit of all others.

Looking forward to many lively discussions!

Yeah, neat site. I mentioned this place to a salesman at BestBuy. He seemed pretty interested. He may have stopped by already... Wink

If it wasn't for your site Rampy, I would be stuck in TiVo hell.  With all the help and posts on BYOPVR, I was able to get the b all running on my build.  Before I read this site I was only thinking of putting in a tuner card in and old puter and run with that.  I had no idea that I had to think about software and hard drives, cpu reqs, etc. etc.  Now with you and the folks here at BYOPVR, I think I can qualify myself as a novice (one up from newb) and be able to help out with posts.  But we will see in a few days when my hardware comes in.  Smiley
Thanx for a great site and the openness of the community.  I look forward to posting and reading and having you guys help spend what little money I have.  LOL

Thanx Rampy and to all who help this site with posts and reviews.  You guys ROCK.

Love the site Smiley

Do you have a banner I could toss into my ad rotation on my site?  Or is there some standard text you would prefer for links?

Thanks Calash... I don't really have a banner ad laying around.  I do appreciate the linkage. A regular old text link would be fine/awesome with the text of your choosing.  thumbs up good job
