The XM PCR is a XM reciever that connects to your PC.  There are some great freeware developed for it, and now TimeTrax, which allows you to automagically save the songs in MP3 format to your HDD.  One night I left it on and woke up to a TON of country songs sitting in my country folder - complete with ID3 tags

(obviously you can record whatever channel you want...if you don't want the taint of country music defiling your HDD....)

My ebay auction:

Arghhh...  I wish I would have bought one of these 6 months ago... then I could sell it for 10 times what I paid for it...

Oh well, pop/tech culture is a funny thing...

That was cool right up to the point when I saw the $404.00 current bid. I see I'll never have one of those. Also hope it goes higher for you.

If you're looking for me I'll be in the land of Free-To-Air Satellite Radio.

I'd be interested in looking at the laws that caused that device to be removed from the store(if there is any legal standing in existence at all).

I've already proven to myself that the government lies it butt off when it comes to income and social security tax laws, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to find out they overstepped their authority here.  Big Brother isn't coming, he's already here!!!!

I don't think it was a law thing, it was the maker of the device that pulled it...  They didn't want to be sued by the RIAA.

This is probably old news, but you can buy the XMD1000 ($50) which is currently the heart of their after-market automobile system, Then make a cable which connects this device to your PC ($15) and 12v power. Using software, you can timeshift the music. Complete kits can be bought from timetraxtech.com. :)

Audiophiles beware, this relies on a digital to analog conversion in the XM device, and then a analog to digital conversion in the PC. The music sounds good to an undiscriminating listener like me, but is probably not a great choice for creating a music library. :(  I like listening to the music at my PC without burdening my connection to the WWW.
