I plan on purchasing the WinTV 350 to do all of the heavy work and installing GBPVR.  I will probably put Win XP Home on it.
I want to watch, record and pause TV (regular cable).  The output will be on my tv and I don't plan on using a monitor at all.  This will be part of a dedicated PVR system.

Specs for Motherboard/CPU.
JetWay J627F800-OC
CPU VIA C3 processor - 1.2GHz
FSB    133/100MHz
Memory Slots 1 DDR 266 - I plan on getting 512 M
1 PCI Slot
2 PATA
Onboard Video Chipset    S3 Graphics UniChrome Pro IGP
Audio Chipset    AC97 Codec
Audio Channels    6 Channels
LAN Speed    10/100Mbps
2 PS/2
1 COM
Video Ports    D-Sub
2 USB 2.0
Audio Ports 3 Ports
I figure I can get a big hard drive for it in one of the IDE slots and a DVD player in the other.  And maybe a wireless USB adapter so I don't have to have an ethernet cable stretched across two rooms.
Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?
There are pictures of it here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.aspx?Image=13-153-045-02.jpg%2c13-153-045-03.jpg%2c13-153-045-04.jpg%2c13-153-045-05.jpg%2c13-153-045-06.jpg&S7ImageFlag=0&Depa=0&Description=JetWay+J627F800-OC+VIA+C3+processor+Mini+ITX+Motherboard%2fCPU+Combo
Thanks for any advice.  I am just learning about PVRs.

I can't find details about your motherboard, but I have a few concerns/questions. Are you planning on doing HD. If so this won't make it. If you're just doing SD you might be ok. The part I worry about is your video output. Your motherboard has a vga port, but I don't know if it can output with enough resolution for a pvr. Your 350 could also output, but there are fewer and fewer pvr programs that support this feature and those that do the quality is spotty I hear. On that note, what pvr software are you planning on using? You'll want to check the min specs to make sure your system can handle it.

I only have SD so HD isn't a concern.  At least for a couple of years.  I was planning on using the software that comes with the WinTV 350 and GBPVR.  My TV doesn't have a VGA port so I wasn't planning on using the VGA from the motherboard at all.

Were you going to use the 350 to get the video onto your tv? If so, you need to know that the latest versionm of GBPVR doesn't support the 350 anymore and Sub said that it will be phased out completely so make sure you grab an old version if that's the route you want to go.

Thanks for pointing that out.  Yes, I am planning on using the 350 to do the TV out.  I only found 1.0.16 and 1.0.8 on the GBPVR site.  As you said, neither support the tv out function.  Where do I find the older version of it?  Does beyond tv or sage tv support the tv out function?

Well I think I found the answer to my other question.  Beyond tv doesn't support tv out through the 350, but Sage tv does.  And since tv listings won't be free after tomorrow, I will take a look at using Sage tv instead.

Just for the record you can still get free listings, you just can't use Zap2It.

Just to warn you, the 350 TV-out feature is a pile of  crappy.  It'll work but you'll have a lot problems.  I now use the 350 as a 150 only, not using the TV-out.

Thanks for the input.  I am waiting for my power supply to arrive so I can play with my system before I purchase the tv tuner.  I might get the PVR 1600 since it can support HD as well as SD since it costs only a little bit more than the 150.
