At the risk of angering the masses, I am going to post this question in this forum (I was getting any responses in the Help forum), and time is running out.  The WAF is at an all time high, the money is available, and I want to build my own HTPC.  So before the wife changes her mind, I'd like to know what people think about the Tivo HD.

This would eliminate all of Comcast's horrible, useless pieces of junk that can't record a show to save their lives.  All I'd need is two Comcast cable cards.  Whatever the Tivo HD records, I can store on my HTPC over my home (gigabit speed) network.  My HTPC would also have music, Blu-Ray --HD-DVD player, etc etc etc.

Does this make sense?  My wife and daughter could easily use the Tivo UI, and then I could do all of the more complicated storage/transfer stuff.  I could even play record TV on my HTPC with GBPVR or SageTV, etc.

This does limit me to Comcast, no satellite.  But that's not really an option right now anyway.  I considered the Hauppauge HD-PVR, but that can only record 1 show or display live TV.  It can't do both at the same time like the two-tuners provide in the Tivo HD.

Does this make sense?  Or am I smokin' something?
