I do not have cable or other than an antenna. I want to build a DVR and do what a TIVO does to some extent. I've built many many PCs so that's not an issue. What is an issue is what is available for TV cards that I could put into a PC that have dual ATSC tuners within so I can watch, and record two shows at once. BTW, my antenna reception is really quite good, I'm in the Minneapolis area. I even wonder if a TIVO would fit the bill as sales people don't seem to even relate to over the air HD issues. I don't even have a digital TV yet but it's in the cards. I have one converter box now, it works well but with it I lose most all features my current TV has as it's a Sony 32 inch tube, dual tuners, true PIP etc., mated with a Sony VCR with a tuner so my wife is spoiled regarding recording and watching. With a converter box everything goes in but only one digital chan comes out pretty much screwing me in every way. So, I'd like to look into building a box to record two shows, maybe watch a third etc.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

HD Homerun is popular, but it is not an internal card. http://www.silicondust.com/
And http://forum.byopvr.com/dvr/index.php/topic,9210.0.html
2 cards are mentioned in that post, but only one is yet available.

You could always just get two Hauppauge HVR-1600s then you would actually be able to tune two digital channels and two analog at the same time.

Basically you build a computer like you normally would, add a couple of tuner cards (need one tuner per show airing at the same time), and a lot of hard drive space and you're set for hardware. Check out GBPVR for software and you're ready.
