Hey everyone,

I have a media centre PC with Vista Media Centre on it.  I was looking at LinuxMCE and noticed you can use an Orbiter or web pad to control media and so on.  My media centre PC I just moved upstairs, but I have a Sony location free TV which connects to the net wirelessly and has a web browser and touch screen.  I NEVER use it, but I was just thinking how cool it would be to keep it in the living room and use it to play media and what not on the media centre upstairs, mainly just pick music to play and so on.  Does anyone know of an application that would do this?  Or even better would be if I could see my windows desktop from the location free player and control the whole PC, just not sure if the web browser is that good.  Thanks!

I'm not familiar with your tv, but if you can use the web I guess you could set up an Orb account and go that route. What you really want is some sort of client/server software, but without knowing more about how your tv's browser works it's hard to say what your options are. Also keep in mind that since it is wireless your bandwidth is probably not very good. Do you know if it uses 802.11b, g, or n?

My TV is an LG with the media centre connected to it.  What I'm referring to is the Sony LocationFree player, it's a small wireless handheld device with built in browser, I can try to find specs on it to see what it does.  What I meant though was I don't want to actually watch anything on the wireless handheld.  I just wondered if there's a good application that I can install on the PC and since the locationfree player is wireless, go to an internal website and browse music, or even better actually control the computer if possible.  I know with TVersity you can do that, it's just not that nice an interface.  I was looking at LinuxMCE and the web interface for it is much better designed for this, just I don't want Linux on any of my PCs it just pisses me off and I end up formatting when I need a windows only program lol.

Couldn't you just use remote desktop for this? I was actually thinking about trying to do the same thing with my Raon Everun. I'd be interested to here if you get it worked out.

I'll let you know, my concern is when you use remote desktop over the web, I believe it runs an active X control you have to allow something, so I'm almost positive the crappy web browser on the location free player probably doesn't support it, not sure if it even supports flash.  With TVersity I know there's a web interface for that, where it will list your music and shared files and so on, but I listen more to internet Radio and so on that's why I'm thinking being able to remote control it would be cool.  It's not a necessity it's not like the computer's a 20 minute walk away or anytrhing, I just dont use the location free, plus how cool is it to pick up a LCD device and control your music when company is over Thffftpppppt!
