So I was just looking at Blue Ray stuff on thegreenbutton.com and it looks like arcsofts total media theatre software comes with a plugin that allows you to access your blue ray movies from within MCE. This is a nice feature since otherwise if you're using PowerDVD, as I am now, you have have to exit out of whatever software you're using and open PowerDVD to access movies. It's just not very HTPC friendly since you can't just play a movie with the remote. Of course TotalMedia Theatre isn't free so that's a drawback right there. It's too bad this isn't the software that comes prepackaged with the drive instead of PowerDVD.

Apparently this is the same software that does come prepackaged with the HDPVR.

Its not really a plugin. It is a separate executable that is launched and runs on top of MCE. The executable name is uMCEDVDPlayer.exe and can be launched with or without MCE. I actually set up a custom task in GBPVR to launch the same executable.

Could you set GBPVR to run a similar task for powerdvd instead? How did you go about doing that?

  • In the GBPVR Config, go to the "Plugins" tab.
  • On the right hand side under "Custom Tasks", select "Add".
  • Enter a button name (this is what you will see in the GBPVR menu like "Recordings", "TV Guide", etc).
  • Browse for the executable.
  • Add any command line parameters you want (like the path to your BluRay drive).
  • Click "OK" and it should now be listed in your custom tasks.
  • Click "OK" in Config to exit.
  • Restart Config and go back to the "Plugins" tab.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the plugins list.
  • Click on your custom task and drag it anywhere you want above "Exit".
  • Close Config.

You should now see the new menu option in GBPVR.

Thanks a ton. That will make my use of GBPVR even better then it already is. I was going to use HIP to program that in but that's a lot better. I gave you a little karma point for that one.  Smiley
